Umbrellas Banned From McCartney Concert At Citi Field

Note that umbrellas are on the list of banned items. I believe umbrellas are one of the main weapons used by both Al Qaeda and The Penguin.  The Mets want you safe because they want you back and they want you wet.

Also of interest is “no cameras.” (See below).

I wonder what will happen to the 50,000 cellphones that people bring.  Will they let me bring my iphone in?

The Concerts Will Go on Rain or Shine – Gates Open at 5:30 PM

Floor Seat Ticketholders Enter Exclusively Through Bullpen Gate on 126th Street at 37th Avenue

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 16, 2009 – The New York Mets in conjunction with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and Metro-North today announced additional service for Paul McCartney‘s historic first concerts at Citi Fieldthis FridayJuly 17, SaturdayJuly 18, and Tuesday, July 21.

On these three dates, NYC Transit will run the 7 Subway post-game express service to Manhattan following the concerts.  LIRR will provide additional service on the Port Washington Line and Main Line trains connecting to Citi Field at Woodside.  Complete transportation information and timetables are available online at www.507TIXX.com.

The concerts will go on, rain or shine.  Gates will open at 5:30 PM on each of the three evenings.  Floor Seat ticketholders will enter exclusively through the Bullpen Gate, located along 126th Street at 37th Avenue.

In addition, the Mets ask for fans to be advised that prohibited items at Citi Field include, but are not limited to, camerasvideo cameras, and other recording devices of any kind, umbrellas and other items that affect viewer sightlines, items larger than 16″x16″x8″, coolers (hard sided), cans, glass bottles, beverage containers, alcoholic beverages, controlled or illegal substances, laser pointers, noisemaking devices, fireworks, animals (except for service animals), weapons, and the like and the holder consents to a reasonable search for such items.  Citi Field retains the right to determine what items are deemed appropriate for entry.  Smoking in Citi Field is prohibited.  Any ticketholder violating this prohibition will be subject to ejection.

Fans can connect to the 7 Subway from most subways lines in Manhattan, including at 42nd Street-Times Square, and Grand Central for the ride to Mets-Willets Point station.  The Long Island Rail Road’s Port Washington Branch from Penn Station or Woodside has half-hourly service, the ride from Manhattan is 16 minutes.
