Most Popular On Mets Police August 2 Edition

Quick thoughts before we get to this week’s links:

Here’s some proof Howie Rose is excellent on the radio.  I got in the car last night, turned on the game, and off the way Howie described the wind-up I said to Mrs. Mets Police, it’s the 9th inning and the Mets are winning.  I was right.

I couldn’t even get $7 for my $19 seats in the Promenade on Monday so I guess I’ll head out there tomorrow.     There will be smaller crowds in 2010 for sure.   Speaking of tickets…

…Does anyone actually believe this?:  “Because it is the last season in Giants Stadium, we decided to do an individual game sale as a benefit to the season-ticket holders and to accommodate more people on the wait list,” Giants VP of communicationsPat Hanlon.  Read more:in the Daily News.

Tickets really are going fast.  When’s the last time you saw a banner ad on a website offering you season tickets?   I got one for the Jets this morning – click here if you want them.  Nobody else does.

I don’t like Newsday.com’s redesign.  If the goal was to get me to stop visiting the site it has worked.  So has disabling or moving the RSS feeds (all went stale a week ago) and disabling the iphone app.   That’s Cablevision for you.

Here’s a look at what was popular on Mets Police this week:

Monday marked the 10th anniversary of the Mercury Mets.   I was all excited about a nice uniform discussion, then Omar attacked Adam Rubin.

Speaking of uniforms….there’s a third rail of Mets blogging and I decided not to ignore it.  For the record, I don’t like the Los Mets jerseys because they say “Los” not because the Mets had one of their theme nights.  If you read the article you’ll see that teams in the Mexican League, for example, don’t put “Los” on their jerseys. Now I’m being called a racist on twitter because I posted the comments from some others, and to answer one of the questions – I wrote yesterday that I would not support Gaelic night uniforms.   Wear blue and white.  The name of the team is the Mets.

On a lighter note, you should watch this hilarious video of Mr. Met from Conan O’Brien’s show.

I don’t think Omar Minaya should be fired.

I thought it curious that the Mets waited until 7:13 to rain out a 7:10 game.

Some thoughts on steroids.

The Mets have added the new video screen in right field.  I’m told it was operational early in the week, but it wasn’t on Thursday afternoon.

Mets Player’s Choice Attire.
