Could This Be The Future Site Of The New York Mets Museum?

Off a reader tip I took my camera to check out some construction in the right field corner of Citi Field.

Next to the 47 shop (someone asked about the name – yeah I guess that is a Jackie Robinson reference.  That or Jesse Orosco owns the store.  More on that tomorrow.) you will see some construction.

The space does not look very big from the front.  My initial reaction was that if it is a museum, it would be small.

That’s what the square says.   Since 40,000 people a night can see the sign the number isn’t a secret.

Here’s the space from the side.   As you can see, lot’s of windows.

So, I don’t know what the space is.   Time will tell.

  1. The '47 shop gets its name from the brand name of the stuff they sell. You can see their website at http://www.nineteen47.com/

If you read their company story on their website, you see that the name has to do with the year of the founding of one of the two companies that merged to form the current company. The name has no more to do with the Mets than a New Era Cap store or a Majestic Authentic Uniform store's name would have. It's a company that produces Mets apparel (featuring a blue/orange Mets hat on their site) and is paying the Mets to have a store in the ballpark…

  2. Thanks for the tip – I'm sitting on a post about that, never got to write it yesterday.
