I have decided today will be “Be Nice To The Mets Day.”
They are being cool and honoring the NY Giants (the team that won 10 pennants but nobody talks about, yet all you ever heard about was waaaahhh Brooklyn and that was way before Fred build N’Ebbetts Field.) Plus they are adding championship banners to the fence and “Mets stuff” around Citi Field.
So I won’t pick on them today. In fact, if by 5pm they ban black hats and name Lee Mazzilli manager I will have accomplished all my goals and I can shut down the blog.
Although I will be nice today it doesn’t mean everyone has to:
Bitter Bill has a great look back and some of the less-pretty Mets uniforms of the past.
Osh41 asked if Charlie Samuels knows about these. Hopefully Charlie won’t read the blog before Tuesday.
Pedro: I’m known not to be a fan. I watched the game. He looked pretty good for three, maybe 4….the 5th inning was shaky….the Phillies OFers caught some possible doubles…but he was serviceable, although I don’t think a 5 inning pitcher would have helped the Mets in the second half.
