Bricks, Sterling, and I Can’t Think Of A Title For This New York Mets Post

Seems quiet in Flushing.  Some quick hits:

  • To the person who asked where I bought the Church shirts.  The Mets team shops. They were $5 last homestand.

  • To the person who correctly observed that the 1969 Mets didn’t have names on the back.  Yep.  However, a Kranepool jersey is still cool.

Would they allow:
“Thank God 2009 is Over”
“Bring Back
Shea
“Rubin 4 GM”
“Welcome to
Ebbets Field
“No More Dodgers Stuff”

On twitter (@metspolice) someone suggested “thanks for the obstructed views.”

  • Someone has contacted me about a fan boycott.  Stay tuned.
  • I’ve been in the car on nights where the Met game ended before the Yankee game.  My new favorite sport is listening to Sterling completely ignore anything Suzyn has to stay, to the point of just cutting her off.  A typical sentence:  “Jones came to the Mariners in a trade foTHE 1 OH IS HIGH BALL ONE.”   Fun.
  • CONTEST:  We were doing “John Sterling calls the 1951 playoff” this morning.   Play along.  So far we have…“Branca deals.  It is high, it is far, it is gone!   A Giant shot to left!  Hold me now!  (think about it)  Tommy Boy!  The Giants win…thuuuuu Giants win!”

Finally, I really liked this comment on “More New York Mets Citi Field Fanwalk Bricks On Sa…“:

The Mets are an out of control organization. There is no one there who is strong enough to say, “hey, our season’s ticket holders and fans are unhappy with us, and maybe we should curtail more milking of the cow…”

My Mets have become a joke off the field. From the noise, to the commercials before the game, to the action packed between inning sponsor fulfillment, to the 10,000 billboards in the outfield…

A joke.

They are a sordid and sullied bunch, that has lost sight of tact and class and dignity.

  1. I started the list for the suggested FanWalk Bricks, but I also was the same one who tweeted my "Thanks for the obstructed views". I'd love to see some other suggestions that the Mets might object to.
