Wow this is very interesting (to me, anyway). Â Here’s what Corey just emailed me:
The Texas Rangers have suites named after Ebbets Field and players who didn’t play for them. I’m sure their fans didn’t whine about it like Mets fans did about this supposed Citi Field is a Dodgers shrine nonsense.

Sure enough, I clicked and look at this:

Walter Johnson | 40 people | $5,000 |
Ted Williams | 40 people | $5,500 |
Juan Marichal | 40 people | $5,750 |
Catfish Hunter | 50 people | $6,250 |
Ebbets Field | 60 people | $6,750 |
Ebbets Field | 80 people | $9,000 |
Ebbets Field | 100 people | $9,750 |
Ebbets Field | 120 people | $11,700 |
Casey’s Corner | 50 people | $6,850 |
Casey’s Corner | 70 people | $8,000 |
Casey’s Corner | 80 people | $9,000 |
Casey’s Corner | 100 people | $11,000 |
I’m going to reach out to some Rangers bloggers and see what they say.
Williams managed the Rangers both in Texas and as the Washington Senators before they moved.
Jenkins played for the Rangers.
Johnson played for the original Senators, which moved on as the Twins, but were replaced with the 2nd Senators (kind of like the Cleveland NFL situation after the Browns moved to Baltimore) who in turn became the Rangers.
Can’t help you on Hunter, Marichal, and Aaron. It’d be interesting to know why they were specifically picked instead of the nearly 300 other possible HoFers.
Of course the obvious difference between this situation and that of the Mets is that all of those players are retired/deceased whereas the Dodgers team is still active. Despite there being a suite named for Aaron, I doubt the gift shop in Arlington is loaded with Braves jerseys.
