Lenny Dykstra in a ’73 Mets jersey..in 1986

Osh41 and I were discussing some variant Mets uniforms from various commercials over the years.   I was thinking about an old Newsday ad in which there was a team in blue and orange that wore New York on their jerseys, and if memory serves had an M on their caps.

Lenny Dykstra in a classic Mets jerseyOsh41 topped that with this memory of a 1986 ad for  Slice soda.  If you ever wonder how the 1986 Mets  could have been even better, the answer is here.

They could have been dressed in classic unis!

  1. That’s outstanding. Clearly, they didn’t get MLB licensing for the actual uniforms, since Mike Scott’s said “Houston” and Ozzie Smith’s said “St. Louis.”
