Mets add Build Your Own 4 game packs including Opening Day

Last week Mets Police mentioned that we heard three-game packs were coming.   Well, I missed by one game.  However on mets.com you will find the below:

You can build your own Four Game Premium Pick-A-Pack online by choosing Opening Day, April 5 or one of the May 21 – 23 Subway Series games at Citi Field, and then selecting one game each in April, May and June. April’s matchups feature the only visits to Citi Field by the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. Homestands in May include the first trip to New York by the rival Philadelphia Phillies. June’s schedule is highlighted by Interleague series against the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins.

Premium Pick-A-Pack availability includes select seating in premium locations in the Metropolitan Box, Field Box, Baseline Box and Caesars Club categories. Your choice of seat category will apply for all four games in a Pack, subject to availability.

Thanks again to Richie for the original tip, and Peter for letting me know they announced it today.  This site is only as good as the stuff you guys send in to [email protected] and is much appreciated.

So….am I a fool for having bought a 6 game pack to guarantee the opener?  Sort of.  I don’t really mind, but I would have liked to have known all the options.  They are teaching me to wait them out in 2011.

Between 15 game packs, then 6 packs, now 4 packs, no lottery, and yesterday’s email reminder to all previous plan holders…makes me wonder how low ticket demand is.

UPDATE 12:23pm:  I just read it more carefully…looks like this is just for pricier seats.

If you missed it this morning, here’s an interesting discussion of variable ticket pricing.

  1. Unfortunately, these are two expensive. I randomly picked a collection Baseline Box Silver (the cheapest ones). They range from $98 for premium to $42 for value(which is actually a pretty fair amount in my mind, to make it actually possible to afford seats in the field level/ceasers club area.) But the total package came out to roughly $300 a person for the 4 games, which is just a bit much. Even if I scalp $150 ticket to get in for Opening Day, I can buy the cheap $11-$20 Promenade seats for the other three games and come out ahead.

  2. It is definitely time to wait them out. I really only want Opening Day, so I could have easily waited for the general on-sale if I had known of no lottery. If I couldn’t get a single game ticket for the opener, then I could pick between the 4-pack or 6-pack. Instead, I got the 6-pack with bad seats…oh well. Now I will try to “upgrade” via the general on-sale for the Opener and maybe sell my 6-pack opening-day seats.

  3. I have to thank Metspolice for this one. I was about to buy a 6 pack in the reserved when you mentioned the possibility of 3 packs. I waited and today got the 4 pack email. Yes, they are for the pricier seats but as someone who had season tix in the Caesars level last year, I didn’t mind the cost so much as all the wasted tickets. Now I have 4 games I know I’ll go and I’ll get to live the high life for those days without spending like 5K on seats I won’t use the rest of the year or have to just give away.

  4. It’s a nice deal if you can afford the pricier seats, but I can’t really justify four games in the “good sections” — especially if one is at Platinum Level cost.

I’ll see if I get lucky on March 7 or via StubHub for Opening Day. I don’t think any of the other games are going to be a huge problem.
