Santana or Six

Sometimes during a game I will tweet “I have a bad feeling about this” (@metspolice) which inspired this photoshop be Media Goon.

Friday night I tweeted that this was a big series – and although I thought it would go well, what a disaster it would be if the Mets were swept, six out heading into three days of bored fans with nothing to do but panic, and then an 11 game west coast swing. Not good.

Standing between that fate and four back is Johan Santana. Good. He has been known to man up, whether it’s the 161st game of 2008 or the 9th inning of his last start. I can think of noone better to send out there.

As for Reyes, watch out.   Clearly he wasn’t ready to go.  Let’s keep him out longer this time.   The Mets pick up an all-star caliber center fielder (supposedly Beltran will play Thursday) and lose an all-star SS.

All week Howie Rose told me Reyes didn’t look right.   Once again Howie is right.

When the team waves the Prevention and Recovery flag and this happens it is hard not to thumb your nose.

Reyes is officially out of the All Star Game by the way.

I took a ton of pictures at Citi Field today (as usual) – and have enough to do another run of “alternate caps” once 70’s week ends.  I also took a bunch of pictures inside the Seaver gate.  I’ll post those tomorrow.

I’m off to do something non-Mets related.   Futurama probably.  See y’all in the morning.  Big game tomorrow.  Ike makes a great Han Solo.
