Paul Lukas from the great UniWatch has started Fire Wayne Hagin at http://firewaynehagin.blogspot.com/
I’m mobile so I can’t format the link above or the paragraph below properly, but here’s Paul and then I will jump in.
Paul (from the site): Hagin occupies the less important seat in the less important broadcast booth of New York’s less important baseball team, so his work has largely escaped the notice of New York sports media scribes like Richard Sandomir and Neil Best. But Hagin is plenty important if you have to listen to him every night. It’s no exaggeration to say he makes my life worse on a daily basis. This site will be dedicated to raising awareness of his on-air miscues, in the hopes of raising awareness and, eventually, having him replaced by a more competent broadcaster.

I’m sharing this with mixed emotions.
I don’t seek to get people fired. You’ll notice that I will razz Dave Howard. I invite him to the uppers to enjoy the thrill of plexiglass. I mock his monetization plan for Old Timer’s Day. I try to provide suggestions. I don’t call for his head.
What about the manager? That’s somehow different. It just is. If you voted for McCain or John Kerry did it mean that you were a bad American? You just thought the other guy could manage better and you knew McCain, Kerry or Jerry Manuel or Bobby Valentine would work again.
On to Wayne. Look how I led off this morning. I miss Howie Rose. It took one inning. Really, half an inning.
I started this blog to be the voice of the frustrated Mets fan. To give you a chance to be heard. Francesa and Kay aren’t going to talk about Banner Day, plexiglass or Wayne Hagin. That’s what Mets Police is for.
I haven’t done much “policing” this season because the organization got its act together and hung afew banners and got out some blue paint. That’s a good thing. I’m not looking to bitch. I like when everything is great in Flushing.
Howie put of the lineup is like when any star is out of the lineup. It will expose the flaws on the team.
It’s one thing when Wayne is the #2 starter and Eddie is available for long relief. The Mets’ booth is without the ace. I suspect folks will notice. Lukas has started a blog. I bet we will find it interesting.
Perhaps the Mets would be willing to give Ollie Perez a chance in the broadcast booth since he quite obviously cannot pitch anymore for them. You might just appreciate Wayne, whatever his flaws, then.
