Jerry’s words suggest he knows

Good morning Mets fans,

I spent the night walking on the wild side in the Bronx – nothing notable to report other than $23 parking, sheesh – but as I do the rounds this morning, the words of Jerry Manuel are telling me that he knows he won’t be back.

Jerry was very good and honest on WFAN yesterday afternoon, basically saying that of course Wally Backman, Tim Teufel, Ken Oberkfell and…something like ‘who was that other guy they brought in (Bob Melvin) all want his job.  Very honest.  He also said he wanted the job for 10-15 years. Let’s look at Jerry’s choice of pronouns in other interviews:

Times“I think they are going to have to find a place to play for this young man at the major leagues next year”

NJ.com: “I mean, these guys [Atlanta] are bringing in a young player like [Jason] Heyward. Some say the guy tonight, the first baseman, [Freddie] Freeman, is the best player in the International League. So that’s two tremendous young players that this franchise is going to be facing for the next how-many-ever years. And whomever is sitting in this seat, or whatever, will be facing for the next whatever years.

In the News, Bitter Bill nails it:  But, unlike a year ago, we don’t really have next year to look forward to.

Anyway, as the Times tells us, you don’t want to be part of David Wright’s card game. Or maybe you do.  I wonder if DW could ask Castillo and Perez to join him.
