Mets score 18 runs, and yes, they win! – Mets Blog – ESPN New York

Mark Simon over at ESPN NY broke down some stats from yesterday’s game.  Here are just a few – good read.

Luis Hernandez became the second player in Mets history to record seven at-bats in a nine-inning game. The other was Lenny Dykstra in a 23-10 win against the Cubs in 1987.

Jonathon Niese got 18 runs of offensive support. In his previous five starts, Niese had gotten a total of 16 runs of support.

  1. I missed the game — I went to see the Cyclones and hang out on Coney Island instead — I can’t believe the Mets scored 18 runs in a game!

  2. I think Ralph used to tell the story…in the early days of the Mets they were just terrible…one day a man told his friend the Mets scored 18 runs…the guy asked back “did they win?”
