Has Lee Mazzilli become a True Yankee?

Oh no.

It was one thing to see Lee in the Bronx in the 70’s.  Another to see him sitting next to Joe Torre (a job’s a job.)

Then Lee didn’t get a time at bat with Sandy when he was interviewing random people like a Red Sox bench coach and a guy who was fired by the Mariners.

But this….this we cannot ignore.

Here is Lee Mazzilli at Fake New Yankee Stadium’s Fake Gate 2 helping out at the food drive.

I can sort of explain that one away.  After all, Lee is a man’s man, arguably the greatest person who ever lived…so OF COURSE he is helping to provide food for those in need.  It would not surprise me to learn that Lee was at the Diamondbacks food drive….

However…how can we explain away this? In that link you will fin Lee Mazzilli presenting Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly with a key to the Yankees clubhouse.

The key to the city?  That makes Mazzilli the Mayor of Yankeetown!

Lee representing the Yankees at two events?   What happened to Reggie Jackson, Roger Clemens, Johnny Damon, A-Rod and all the other true Yankees (Jeter is not presently with the organization of course)….they sent Lee Mazzilli?

The Yankees are sending Lee Mazzilli as a team representative?

Gooden throws a no-hitter in the Bronx, Straw wins a ring there and now Mazz is the new Joe DiMaggio?

What has happened?  Sandy, while I’m all depressed you might as well announce Bob Melvin.  Nothing can hurt me now.  I have let go.  Wear black uniforms at the press conference and invite a random hockey player for no reason while you’re at it.
