Daily News cover: Seaver traded to Reds

Well it has been nearly a week of trying to bully Osh41 into handing in his long-awaited new episode of a look back at Mets uniforms. So far he has resisted seeing Seaver on Boston, Chicago or even as a Yankees announcer.

It’s time to hit him where it hurts.

Osh, you remember June 15, 1977 don’t you?

  1. oh the humanity – i’ll produce something. you’ve really built this up – expectations need to be managed here.

  2. ROFL Seaver as a Yankees announcer! I remember that fiasco. Rizzuto would ramble on about something for ten minutes, ignoring the game and then turn to Tom and say “What happened there, Seav?

  3. I was 15, and remember it like yesterday. I still have that newspaper. Breaks my heart that Seaver won his 300th in a Sox uniform, and we didn’t protect him after the ’82 season.

  4. Barry, I am with you. I was at a point in my life at 12/13 years old where, I did not just follow the game, but I wanted to know all of the subtleties and the nuances of the game. Where my understanding made me more than just a fan, but the kind of fan that could hold my own in a conversation with many adults who had been watching the game for a long time as well. I was crushed like all true Mets’ fans on that day. I am not sure that the team ever truly recovered from that day, despite the fact that they would go on to win another World Series. Had they not had a moron for a GM and team president, maybe they would have won before 86, and never seen the team’s best player ever wear another uniform. Still drives me nuts to see him crouch down on that mound in the White Sox softball uniforms as he won #300.
