  1. Must be a slow news day at the Grey Lady. First, who in their right mind (specifically if one is in financial trouble) would willingly give up a guaranteed $20m/yr? Second, in the current economy there is no company or individual that would be willing to come anywhere close to meeting that kind of money. Citi Field it shall remain until at least 2029 (unless, of course, Citi defaults, changes their name or is bought by someone else).

  2. Call it Shea. Great idea. Let’s reduce their income by another 20 million a year. Say hello to the left side of your infield. Ruben Tejada and Ty Wigginton.

  3. They won’t have the option of removing Citi from the stadium. Pretty soon Citibank will want out so as to keep THEIR reputation above the Mets.

  4. I’ve never liked the name “CitiField,” but the stadiums that change their name every other year drive me bonkers.

Besides, it’s not as if the Mets are in a position to throw away revenue.

  5. did yankee stadium have a corprate name.
the yard should have been named shea.
the man played a BIGpart in returning national legaue base ball to nyc.
like casey said “you can look it up”
had bill shea and his friends started a third league called the”continental legaue” our mets would be in minnesota or denver today !
