1986 Mets to lose to Boston on Fringe tonight?

i09 preps us for tonight’s episode of Fringe.

If you don’t watch the show, much of it takes place in a parallel but slightly different universe.  Tonight’s episode is a flashback to the mid-80’s and io9 says:

An important moment in baseball history went a bit differently “over there.”

Oh, and the main characters live in Boston.

I don’t know anything, but my money is on (a) Boston winning and (b) Boston winning because Buckner steps on first…which will ignore the fact that the game was already tied.

  1. Nice heads up, though I watch Fringe religiously so I wouldn’t have missed this. But non-Fringe fans may want to tune in just for the glimpse of baseball on the other side.

In Walternate’s world, Wilpon hired Sandy Alderson instead of Omar in 2004. Alderson has been very successful up to now, with the Mets winning the WS in 2006, as Beltran took Wainwright deep in game 7 and the Mets went on to win it all. The Mets also took back NY from the Yankees in 2006 as the Bombers buckled under the weight of expectations and an aging roster to take up residence in the basement of the AL East.

Our universe will see a similar fate, but on a later timeline.
