TODAY’S METS STARTER: RHP CHRIS YOUNG is making his fourth start of the spring…He has tossed 9.0innings, allowing two earned runs thus far…On March 9, hepitched 4.0 innings and surrendered five hits and two runs (two solo home runs)…On March 4, Young hurled 3.0 innings and allowed one run (unearned) vs. Florida…Hetossed 2.0 shutout frames vs. Atlanta on February 27…Made just four starts for the San Diego Padres last year after spending most of the season on the Disabled List witha strained right shoulder…Went 1-0 with a1.29 ERA (two earned runs/14.0 innings) inthree September starts for the Padres (Held righthanded hitters to a .130 (6-46…opponents average against while lefthanded hitters hit just .167 (4-24) off him, The Mets signed Young on January 20…2011…He went 4-6 with a 5.21 ERA in 2009 again missing time with a strained right shoulder…He eventually underwent right shoulder surgery in August, 2009…Young was 7-6 with a 3.96 ERA in 2008 and was named to the National League All-Star going 9-8 with a 3.12 ERA (fifth in the NL) in 2007…Young was 11-5 with a 3.46 ERA(sixth in the NL) in 2006…Young is married to the former Elizabeth Patrick, who comes from a family of hockey legends…Overall,four Patrick family members are in the Hockey Hall of Fame and five have won the Stanley Cup.
