News: saving Beltran salary outweighs tickets and ratings

Interesting tid-but from Andy Martino in the News.

We asked a Mets front-office source if the revenue from attendance and television ratings created by a respectable team in August and September made it worth paying Beltran $6million. “You’re still probably saving a lot more by unloading the salary,” the source said, adding that Beltran’s contract, which prohibits the Mets from offering him arbitration and receiving compensatory draft picks, increases the incentive to trade him.

Hmmm so if Beltran doesn’t make up the $6m, how many tickets does it take to make Carl Crawford money.
