Barry Lyons shares how B.A.T. sheltered him from Hurricane Katrina’s destruction – New York Baseball History | Examiner.com

Here’s the opener to a piece on Examiner you may wish to read if you dig Barry Lyons.  Barry and I have emailed a few times, seems like a pretty cool man.

Barry Lyons knows a thing or two about survival after seeing his home and personal possessions washed away by Hurricane Katrina. Lyons lost his home and his 1986 World Series ring when Katrina tore through his backyard.

  1. I actually know Barry and have worked with him a few times here and there. We were actually employed by the same people for a while when he ran a baseball academy out of a local performance enhancement center. Great guy, very down-to-earth. He helped put together a summer league for college players that ran for a couple of years and he coached the Biloxi team. I always chuckle a bit when I think, “This is the same guy whose baseball card was on my bedroom wall 20 years ago.”
