Mets tickets on Groupon

I know some of you will be tempted to make fun of this, but I am a big advocate of discounted tickets. Why play in an empty park? Get people out there and maybe they buy a hot dog or a stupid looking black jersey.

I couldn’t fit the entire site on one screengrab but if you keep reading you will find the below:

Boasting a rich history highlighted by two World Series titles and four National League pennants, the Mets defend the diamond at Citi Field against National League opponents. See David Wright, Lucas Duda, and the rest of the Mets as they take on division rivals the Atlanta Braves and the Florida Marlins, as well as the Chicago Cubs. Attendees can arrive early to peruse Citi Field’s range of dining options or carefully count each of the ballpark’s 41,800 seats.

That you can make fun of.

Are things so bad that Lucas Duda is the #2 draw?

  1. If they priced the tickets right from the beginning, they would have better attendance every day; better concession & parking sales. WIN/WIN

I have many thoughts about this but I’ll just share 1 right now:

There is no reason that LF Promenade should be the same price as Promenade seats between 1B/3B & fould pole. Make those tickets $10 every game & fill sections that never get sold. Or make them all you can eat seats.

    1. You don’t like close to 300 ticket price points?

What, you don’t like customer choice? I bet you preferred Shea, where sightlines were so poor that a field box seat cost $3.50 in 1968. You have to pay up for quality.

I like the Groupon…you’ll start seeing Japanese tourists like the ones Kramer took to see George at Yankee Stadium and let them sleep in his dresser.

      /sarcasm off

  2. Well, David Wright is the main draw until Reyes is back.

Lucas Duda is the ‘hot ticket’ that’s trending high right now.

Corey: They’re trending that way. But those are already the cheapest tickets in the park and I bet they don’t sell as badly as you think. They’re just the main target of people that are looking to buy Standing Room tickets.
