FLUSHING, N.Y., September 9, 2011 – The New York Mets today announced they are teaming up with Lucasfilm Ltd. to host the first Star Wars Night at Citi Field Tuesday, September 13 when the Mets host the Washington Nationals at 7:10 p.m.

Tickets are available online at mets.com/starwars and include a commemorative t-shirt (see image below) and a $5 donation to Stand Up To Cancer, a movement created to raise funds to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.

The night will celebrate the September 16 North American release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, a nine-disc collection in high definition with 6.1 DTS Surround Sound with more than 40 hours of special features and never-before-seen content. The collection includes deleted, extended and alternate scenes, new documentaries, audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, prop and costume turnarounds and more.

Darth Vader, Jedi and Stormtroopers will be on hand for the night and fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters for a costume contest. There will also be trivia during the game with Star Wars prizes compliments of ClicTime, Pez and others.

Star Wars fans throughout the ballpark will be invited to stand for the bottom of the third inning to raise awareness for Stand Up To Cancer and how cancer claims the life of one person every minute of every day in the U.S. Major League Baseball is a lead donor of the organization.
