The old media is driving me insane this morning.
We spent yesterday on twitter reading the “news” that Gooden missed the 1986 parade because of drugs. That’s been known for 25 years.
The “new” part of the story is that he was in the projects. And here’s a Mets Police article from May 24th! I remember that morning because I was listening to Boomer & Carton and live blogging while walking. And I remember MetsBlog writing about it…and I bet all the other blogs had it too.
So after yesterday’s “news” on twitter, this morning I wake up and the news station including this in the sports report.
I understand ESPN being all ESPNny and I want to use a sentence here with the words jerk and circle in it, but I try to keep it clean…but now CBS radio which also owns 66 is reporting this like it’s new?
A google search will also lead to many newspaper articles about this “news.”
I can’t wait until they find out Keith Hernandez headed to the clubhouse for a beer in Game 6.
I don’t get it.
It’s about promoting that E.60 show on ESPN that he was on. That’s all. They don’t care if it’s true or current or not. And the rest of the people are just button-pushing retweeters that just regurgitate stories back to you.
