A reader who goes by CEM sent the below. I personally don’t know if the lot is “closed” – I believe you could walk over to the Shea markers and park in the McFadden’s lot.
Anyways, neat idea and if anyone gathers please take some photos.
Any chance you can persuade the “powers that be” to open the parking lot Thursday night to “celebrate” our last World Series Championship as Jesse did?
Nothing crazy, just Gary, me, any Blue Cap Army member that would like to join us. No drinking (till afterwards). Just a chance to be on the same spot as our champs 25 years ago.
If not, we will probably head down anyway and stare at our beloved Shea through the fence.
Let’s Go Mets – 1986 World Champions!!!!
I’m sure people will be able to access that area today – as they can everyday.
The team store is open every day (think hours are 10-5), so anyone can drive into the lot (probably only one entrance, most likely on 126th St., near the Hodges entrance), park and then stroll over to Shea’s home plate, any other spot, assuming there’s not an employee’s or event-attendee’s car parked on it… (if memory serves, that spot is not within an actual parking space, so that shouldn’t be a problem …). Enjoy! Happy 25th!
