During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. Last year alone over $75 million were raised in the US.
On October 31st I will be shaving my goatee (much to my wife’s chagrin) and will start the month with a clean face. Over the next 30 days I will be getting my Keith on and I invite other Met bloggers and you our readers to join me either by joining our team – Mets Bloggers For A Cure and pledging to grow your own ‘stache (and helping us get pledges), or by donating to the team
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
We have a lot of fun on this site and as Shannon has said many times over you all have been a huge part of that. This is an opportunity where we can still have fun (keep an eye out for Mets mustache of the day during Movember) and do some good.
