Okay, so this isn’t the big news we were looking for while Shannon is away for business. The Mets however have kept the tradition of when he is away they announce something. This being something he fought for since he started Metspolice. Shannon has been trying to figure out what date it was going to be on since the Mets announced that Banner Day was returning this year.

Hey Shannon, I know its Memorial Day weekend but is that a weekend you have to be away for business? Or are we both going to go to this game against the Padres?
Update: Just came across twitter. You can buy the Banner Day Ticket Package.

As one of those people who usually go away on Memorial Day, it’s too bad personally, but having Banner Day at 1 p.m.–meaning the banneristas have to get there at 10 or 11, is the kind of timing issue that led to less enthusiasm and killed Banner Day in the first place. I would rather see the banners start at 1 o’clock and the game commence at 2:30 or 3. To play devil’s advocate, having fewer people displaying their gripes at a date and time that’s less desirable might be something that won’t make management cry.
Matt I agree I am not nuts about the date but I don’t want to nitpick. Happy its back. I think the fanbase will support.
