Man I hate Francesa. You guys have no idea how hard it is for me to listen or in this case watch any interview he does. The only thing that kept me tuned in is @MetsGM. I like listening to what he has to say. I believe he knows what he is doing and what kind of team he has. Let me see if I can remember what was talked about during this interview (I am still sleepy).
Alderson says Ike and Murphy both are healthy and appear to be in great shape. Santana is going to throw off the mound sometime later this week and will probably not be the opening day starter. Alderson has also told Santana not to give any timetables out the public and to play everything low key.
Alderson feels the rotation is pretty solid especially if Santana is healthy. He likes the way Gee and Niese progressed last year.
The offense is strong. Expect good things to come from Lucas Duda. The Mets just aren’t the only ones high on him. There were teams that have been asking about him all winter. @MetsGM also doesn’t mind giving up a little bit of defense especially if there is a good offense and good pitching to make up for it.
When he took the Mets GM job he knew he would have to cut the payroll. Especially when a lot of money was tied into just a few players. He also thinks he will have flexibility if the Mets are in the pennant race and need to add any missing pieces.
Alderson also wanted the fans to give this team a chance to show them what they got before throwing in the towel on this season. He believes each player has something to prove and with the make up of the team they just might do it.
So thats all I can remember. I DVR’d it but I don’t feel like torturing myself to go rewind and watch it again. I know there are many Mets fans that have already ruled out this season as a bust. Me personally as a fan, I always give my teams that I root for a chance to actually play and show me if they suck out not. I know you guys feel let down by the Mets. Just give them a chance at first. If they totally suck by the end of May then you guys were right and I will apologize. I have faith in Alderson and Colactus. I think they might have this Mets team surprise you this year.
I don’t believe for a second that Santanna is going to be the opening day starter or will be ready to open the season. I believe he is alot farther away than the Mets are leading us to believe.
I think we will be very lucky if he pitches 100 innings this year!

Ya… what FL Met Fan Rich said. I keep looking back to what Ted Berg wrote a week or so ago, which is that everything has to go right for the Mets to contend. One saving grace is that we can watch the hungry youth work on their game as they jockey for playing time.
