FLUSHING, N.Y., March 4, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced the addition of the Mets Concert Series presented by Duane Reade and Fireworks Night presented by Caesars to the 2012 promotional schedule at Citi Field. Single game tickets go on sale tomorrow, Monday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Mets.com or by phone at (718) 507-TIXX.
The Friday night post-game Concert Series presented by Duane Reade will feature REO Speedwagon (June 15), Cheap Trick (July 20) and MercyMe (August 10). The musical performances will begin approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of each game from a stage in the outfield behind second base. Admission to the concert is included in the price of the ticket.
Fireworks Night presented by Caesars will take place Tuesday, July 3 following the Mets-Philadelphia Phillies game at 7:10 p.m.
REO Speedwagon Presented by Duane Reade and Ben & Jerry’s
REO Speedwagon will perform Friday, June 15 following the Mets-Cincinnati Reds 7:10 p.m. game. The American rock band has sold over 40 million records worldwide, and is best-known for the hits “Keep on Loving You” and “Take It On The Run” off the 1980 album Hi Fidelity. The band is celebrating that famous album with the newly remastered Hi Infidelity: 30th Anniversary Edition to be released July 19. The anniversary edition will feature a second disc with unreleased Crystal Demos of original tracks.
Cheap Trick Presented by Duane Reade and Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler
Cheap Trick will perform Friday, July 20 after the Mets host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:10 p.m. Since the 1970s, Cheap Trick blends elements of pop, punk and metal in a way that is catchy and recognizable, making them one of the most covered bands of all time. The band has sold more than 20 millionrecords, driven by classic hits including “I Want You to Want Me”, “Surrender”, “Dream Police” and “The Flame,” landing them at No. 25 on VH-1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
MercyMe Presented by Duane Reade and Just for Men
MercyMe will perform Friday, August 10 following the Mets-Atlanta Braves 7:10 p.m. game. The Christian rock band has produced eight studio albums over the last 10 years with all of them reaching the Billboard 200 and six hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums list.
The band wrote its current album, The Generous Mr. Lovewell, after a trip to impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic to inspire acts of kindness and generosity towards strangers. MercyMe is currently touring the nation on the Rock and Worship Roadshow.
