Good catch and observation by Steve D. We all love the traditional blue dugout jackets, but notice the description for this item. will the Mets wear these on the road sometimes, all the time, never?
The expectation is that the hybrid cap is dead, and the black jersey will make occasional appearances (presumably with the black cap). Time will tell but hopefully All Hail Kevin Kierst!
They’ve been listed as “road” since last season at least. Nothing new here.
My guess is they will wear them when they wear the black jersey on those occasions on the road. It doesn’t make much sense to wear them when wearing the blue hat. That would be dumb looking. Having said that however I wouldn’t put it past them. But they did the right thing this year so I’ll try to be nice.
What I find so odd about it is they are charging full price for it and still promoting it as the Road jacket. I expected it to be mostly phased out, or as Dom said maybe worn just with the black jerseys. Will the Mets really want to issue two colors of jackets to the players? I hope MLB, or whomever makes these product listings, is not being lazy, or worse, misleading people into buying this jacket at full price, thinking it is still THE Road jacket, when it may be worn only a few times this season, then retired. We will know soon enough.
