All-Star Game memories: 1979 – KansasCity.com

Link to a Lee Mazzilli mention? Sure!

And kids believe me in the darkness that was 1979 (I laugh at the recent seasons) this was a big big deal for a little boy and the sole Met All Star.

The Mets’ Lee Mazzilli hit a homer in the top of the eighth and tied the game at 6-6.

In the top of the ninth, the Reds’ Joe Morgan, Parker and the Dodgers’ Ron Cey all walked against the Rangers’ Jim Kern. Ron Guidry of the Yankees was summoned from the bullpen, but he walked Mazzilli, which scored Morgan with the winning run.
