When I think the Mets will announce David Wright’s long-term signing

Good morning. I hope you and your family are warm and safe. Mine is safe but not warm as we head into week two of no power. But my home is damaged and everyone is fine, so I shall not complain.

I do have this curmudgeonly writing style, so if I do get all Mushnick please know its in the style of the blog and that I’m not walking the streets of Staten Island cursing at people in black Mets jerseys.

Thanks to all those that donated to the marathon fundraiser. I imagine that Crowdrise will still collect the donations, but I haven’t had a chance to explore that since I have almost no service at home (again, poor me, I can’t surf the Internet).

Thanks to Media Goon and Dan for keeping the blog running. The week starts with a few things scheduled which is good, so Mets Police should be more or less up and running as normal.

….

As I stared at the cold dark ceiling at 2:30am I started thinking about the Mets.

They wood be fools if they called a press conference this week to announce they gave a ballplayers $100 million.

That takes us into next week when the announcement of the blue uniforms is expected. I have it in my head that last year they did it on or about November 13th. One way or another they will announce them before Black Friday because as Mayor For Life will tell you, commerce must go on.

Here’s what I imagine….

Dave Howard at the podium. Dickey, Ike, Wright and I dunno how about Murphy in the 2013 uniforms.

Then invites Jeff to say a few words, Jeff announces Wright has been signed for x years for x million.

Remember how the Islanders called a sneaky fast press conference nobody saw coming when they moved to Brooklyn? Same deal. Get the reporters there with the uniforms, send the Mets fans home with a Thanksgiving surprise. Way better than calling a presser to announce millionaires are giving another millionaire several million dollars.

Makes a lot of sense. See you there Dave.
