From a Daily News article attributed to Andy Martino
But, perhaps inevitably, some were dim enough to believe that the obvious hoax was a serious announcement, and a Twitter freakout ensued. Some were even dimmer, learning it was a joke but chiding Horwitz for having fun.
The New York Times was able to do a similar story with a different tone.
Andy Martino is a dumb@ss. He doesn’t know baseball and handles information recklessly.
He appears to have been replaced by a very competent female sports journalist, Kristie Ackert. She’s everything he’s not: a factually accurate and capable journalist educated at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School for Journalism. She writes responsibly about relevant Met matters, and is quite capable of generating a feature article.
I haven’t seen Martino around, which correlates with my increased interest in reading Daily News Met articles.
My Dad was a graduate of Columbia University, and his first job after returning from Europe after WWII was a job as a copy boy at the New York Daily News. He was an active member of the New York media for 40 years. We take our journalism seriously.
I like Andy Martino. But he needs to be more comical considering the clowns he reviews.
Tommy2cat… cool story bro… zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
