Welcome Again!! UConn infielder L.J. Mazzilli taken in the 4th round is the son of Lee Mazzilli, who the Mets drafted in 1973.

This of course brings up a challenge for me. New Mazz is a second baseman. And Murph is a second baseman (this week). I don’t really want to run Ike out of town but it may be my only move.
We may see a whole lot more Mazzilli jerseys around Citi. How will we know which one is you?
Now I know which one to wear tomorrow!
I’m a little worried this move might lead to Ike going elsewhere. Was just reading today Ike’s due for a nice arbitration raise next year. Assuming he rights himself even a little bit, he could be making a little more than $6 million next season. The Mets might deem that too much for the return they’re getting from him (particularly if these slow starts are going to be a regular thing). I can’t really see Murphy going anywhere — at least, he shouldn’t be going anywhere. And don’t move the guy again; he’s getting really good at 2B.
