Mets Trade Collin McHugh For Eric Young Jr.

The Collin McHugh Era is over.  Collin McWho?

From NJ.com:

“McHugh was designated for assignment Saturday. He spent most of the season with Triple-A Las Vegas and went 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA in seven innings for the Mets. He made one start.

Young, who graduated from Piscataway High School, will join the Mets Wednesday. He hit .242 in 180 plate appearances this season before the Rockies designated him for assignment.”

Mike V’s reaction: This must be some kind of Moneyball trade, that only sabermetricians understand, right?  I know McHugh hasn’t been McGreat but surely he has more upside than Young? Doesn’t even a fifth starter have more value than a fourth outfielder?

  1. True… but the Mets have so many more organizational options for long-reliever than the outfield so there may be something to be said for rolling the dice, yeah?
