Should we read anything into that? Is the bluebryd cap going to get some All Star lovin’?
It has been 49 years since the All Star Game came to Queens and I might be dead before it comes around again. They REALLY REALLY SHOULD WEAR PINSTRIPES AND BLUE CAPS. If there is a day for tradition let it be the All Star Game. If they want to wear clown noses, pink pants and Mr. Met caps at the Derby go ahead. Dress correctly on Tuesday. It’s your house, dress properly.
They’ve been wearing pinstripes and blue almost exclusively during night home games this year (except for when they wear the blue tops which are banned from ASG’s anyway). I’ll be shocked (also outraged) if they were to pair the pinstripes with the “bluebryds”. Let’s hope they get it right.
They are selling both caps at stores.
And that’s why I haven’t bought either – I don’t want to spend $40 for the wrong hat. (I actually don’t want to spend $40 for another Mets cap, period, but that’s a whole separate issue.)
Snow whites with blue/orange cap is my guess. During the BFBS era, they wore snow whites with hybrid caps for NL ASGs…
IIRC the NL and AL tries to conform to white and grey as close as possible. Like Terrance said, I can’t recall the Mets ever NOT wearing snow whites for ASG’s when the NL was home.
I dug up this pic of Jose Reyes in the 2011 ASG http://manginphotography.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/BD8E2227-575×398.jpg
and this pic of Piazza in I think the 1998 ASG http://bb_catchers.tripod.com/catchers/piazza8.jpg
