[New York, April 1, 2014] – With the teams exciting mix of veteran players and highly-touted prospects, yesterday’s 1pm Mets season opener against NL East rival Washington Nationals on SNY – the official television home of the New York Mets, New York Jets and all things New York sports – scored a 4.05 household rating (302,000 TV households), the network’s highest opening day telecast since the team’s 2008 tilt against the Florida Marlins. The extra inning affair averaged 369,000 Total Viewers (302,000 TV households) and peaked at a 5.43 household rating (405,000 TV households).

The 4.05 household rating is the highest-rated – most-watched – weekday (daytime) home opener ever for the New York Mets on a Regional Sports Network (RSN), overtaking SNY’s broadcast of the April 5, 2012 opener against the Atlanta Braves at 1:00pm from Citi Field.

In addition, the household rating is a +44% increase compared to last year’s Mets-Padres season opener on April 1, 2013 at 1:00pm (4.05 household rating vs. 2.82 household rating) and +3% higher than the 2012 Mets-Braves opener (4.05 household rating vs. 3.95 household rating).

SNY’s next Mets telecast is scheduled for tomorrow with coverage starting at 6:00pm with Mets First Pitch, followed by Pepsi Pre-Game Live and leading into the team debut of free agent pitching acquisition Bartolo Colon against Washington National’s lefthander Gio Gonzalez at 7:00pm. W.B. Mason Post Game Live will follow all the action from Citi Field.
