Hey guys. As you know I have been helping Director/Producer Heather Quinlan with this movie she is trying to finish. Heather is making a “fans” documentary about the 1986 NY Mets team on and off the field. Heather just tweeted this out this morning….
@86MetsMovie We’re $3,895 away w/2 days left & one of our backers has offered to MATCH any pledges today. So take a swing!
Here’s some info:
The ’86 Mets were a team of outlaws who brought a Wild West attitude to Queens, earning the love of a city and a World Series trophy. So as the 30th anniversary of that season approaches, 1986 Mets: The Movie explores what made the team so great, the year so memorable, the story so New York, and why it couldn’t last. Why the ’86 Mets?: They were the last championship team in New York to reflect the true identity of the city that never sleeps. They were the perfect sports eulogy of a pre-Bloomberg New York. And Game 6 takes its place among legendary World Series games–while that whole series stands out in baseball fans’ minds as one of the greatest, most outrageous series ever played–so that ANYONE who truly loves the game of baseball will want this film to be made … We need to acquire the all-important (and expensive) rights to the footage you want to see! Like the sweep of the Cardinals that propelled the Mets to the top where they never looked back; the curtain calls; the brawls; the playoffs against Mike Scott and the Astros; and, of course, Game 6. We have terrific perks set up for you, including raw footage of our interviews, film credits, parties, and even the chance to come along with us on a shoot! Click here to find more info.
There are a few things that I am really into, baseball and filmmaking are two of them. I believe in this project and have donated money and some of my time in trying to help Heather reach her goal for this Doc…. One last thing. We have invited Heather to be a part of QBC ’15 if she gets the funding to finish this film. She will have a panel spot to show some exclusive footage of her film and answer some Q and A. Who knows maybe she will show some of the behind the scenes footage of me and @lagranderusty bickering in live action like we do on twitter….
