“I think he is a pretty valuable bat, especially where offense is headed,” one Al executive said. “I don’t know that he is cornerstone, but he is a pretty valuable piece on a good team.”
via Mets’ key offseason decision will be what to do with Murphy | New York Post.
You know what, that nails it. The Mets are never going to be good. Sherman’s article is greasing the wheels for Sandy to run Murph out of town. Don’t wanna be spending any money (I am also annoyed that they are trying to move Colon).
The one guy who can it in Citi Field. (Well other than Chase Utley and Jose Reyes who won a batting title.)
This rebuild is never going to end. The Wilpons are buying a mall. Maybe just let Murph go to Toronto so I can get my North Mets jersey already.
The mall thing worries me more than anything. Even if a miracle happens and they have to sell the team, that monstrosity will be there for years to come. The experience of going to see losing baseball is bad enough right now. Put a huge mall there and it will be very hard to drag myself to more than one game a year.
