During the season we did a series of crowdsourcing Amazin’ Ideas for the Mets. It got such a big reaction that we went way over, and I decided to save a few ideas for the long off-season. And now here we are.
Ideas can be big or small. Today’s idea is from Vincent, another victim of my inability to keep my inbox clean and by the time I got to his I had filled the 41 slots. However, now it is the winter and we need cool topics so…
The cafeteria at my job has a loyalty program. At check out, I present them with the food I ordered, cash and my loyalty card attached to my key chain. I receive points based on the amount of money I spend. For instance, purchasing a coffee gives me 1 point while purchasing a sandwich and drink gives me 15 points. I can then trade these points in at anytime for something as small as a pack of gum or something worth saving for like lunch for me and a buddy. The Mets should adopt this idea.

Ideas can be big or small. Today’s idea is from Craig who sent this way back in May, but I am a bad person and keeping my inbox clean and by the time I got to his I had filled the 41 slots. However, now it is the winter and we need cool topics so…
Start a loyalty program. Let fans print out their loyalty cards at home or have them made when they come to the ballpark. Establish a points system. Purchasing tickets, buying merchandise, and eating around the ballpark will give you points. Heck, have fans find mister met around the stadium or have them try a new food stand for MORE points! This could get really fun. I’m guessing beer stands wouldn’t have this because it might promote binge drinking, sigh. Neither would vendors walking down isles.
It cant be that hard to enter your loyal ID at check-out online for tickets. I could imagine a simple scan of the card at concessions or the Mets clubhouse wouldn’t be that hard either.
Let the people cash in their points. Mets management should be thrilled with this! Give away autographs, its cheap in terms of material but fans, including myself, go crazy for them! Maybe a free Pat LaFrieda sandwich for those who’ve saved for a few games? Maybe a foam finger for the youngster who just collected 25 points on a hotdog, cracker jacks, cotton candy and a soda? Maybe even box seats for the die hard who has saved for the first half of the season! The list could be endless from player meet and greets to hot dogs.
This is a sure fire way to get things rolling again!
-PS: bring back the BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE. Remember those four or five recliners in left and right field in Shea. They looked awesome.
