Daniel Murphy is an All-Star 2B right now

This had me screaming at the walls last night.

In three years, Mets Triple-A prospect Dilson Herrera can be an All-Star second baseman, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney told the audience at Pitch Talks earlier this week in New York.

The article goes on to say Murph is just a place-holder.  That’s nice and all.  And in three years we may also have cold fusion and world peace.

Daniel Murphy is an All Star NOW.  Like he actually is an All Star.  I have pictures and everything.

I don’t understand this need by the fanbase to get rid of an All Star at second base because you might have an All Star 2B in three years.  Basically what it really comes down to is the Mets are cheap (not broke, see previous rants about the two major construction projects) and once again we sell the future rather than winning now.

I was told that Ike Davis Justin Turner Brad Emaus JV1 Wilmer Flores and now Dilson Herrera are better at baseball than Murph…except for the pesky part about the actual baseball games where Murph outperforms them all.

Bats second, plays second.  Worry about some other position please.

  1. Murphy will have a great year in 2015 both offense & defense. If the team has a great year the Mets want to go into the playoffs & can not trade him during the season. 190 Hits, 40 2base & 15 Hrs.

  2. Great article!  I agree 100%!!  I love Murph!  He is hard-nosed and gritty and will definitely be an all-star this year, too!!  Most importantly, he can DEFINITELY handle playing in NY!!!
