I remember this. With Ike Davis’ HOF career in New York coming and Murph being out for all of 2010 it was clear that the Mets would move on without Murph just like they will in 2016. The Mets put all the Murph merch on sale, because who likes the guy anyway?
I got a fine Daniel Murphy bobblehead for cheap during that sale.
Although this post also makes me sad, because for me Ike Davis is one of the great “what might have been”s in recent Mets history. A little tough to watch those pre-ankle injury games sometimes.
