Public reply: hey Dave, here’s why Mets Police blows

I received this tweet:

Thanks for writing Dave.

Yes, Mets Police does blow. I blame the Mets.

What would you like me to write about? The excitement at the ballpark? The great plays? The exciting new players?

Should I write the 50,000th article about how Matt Harvey is a deity?

Should I write about David Wright? here ya go – David might resume baseball activities next week maybe. End of post.

Murph sucks this year so I can’t play that card.

I think all “advanced” stats are nonsense, but even if I wanted to write about Defensive Runs Saved, our friend Lagares isn’t playing along.

I thought about writing about how I like Curtis Granderson but once I get past “I like Curtis Granderson” I run out of steam and need Greg Prince’s help.

I could go the nostalgia route and dust off some Dave Kingman articles, but planning ahead I am gone for two weeks at the end of the year and plan to tee up 70’s week, 80’s week and 90’s week again so the @mediagoon doesn’t have to blog over Christmas while putting together QBC16 while I have my feet in the ocean.

I could write about the mall but you all ignored that topic.

I could write about ticket prices, but that’s more of a March topic.

I could write about the Wilpons, Katz, Bill Maher and the others but what new is there to say.

What I would love to do is write about how exciting Mets baseball is, and what a great pickup Player X is.  I’d love to write about a new playoff game just once on this blog in its 8th season.

What I really want to do is cover winning the World Series with the Mets nicely-dressed so that I can post a picture of me in front of a Mission Accomplished banner and then just end the blog.

But I can’t do that because ownership is seemingly trying to just scrape by month to month and we’re stuck in this hell where three back at the end of July is the most excitement we’ve had since Shea.

So yeah, this blog does blow.  I hope it gets better.
