Mets fans have the greatest chant in the world. It goes like this.
Let’s Go Mets!
(take a pause. Not a beat. A pause until you sense it is time to do so again.)
Let’s Go Mets!
(repeat)
Last night, some bozos started “Let’s Go Mets, Hoo..Let’s Go Mets, Hoo.” in a 1-2-3-4 beat. Again, we don’t do that, and while the standard LGM is close to being in a 1-2-3-4, real fans know that the pause is just a hair longer than the 1-2-3-4 would be.
One tweeter told me he heard LGMH back in 2006. And it showed up again last night. I wonder what those two crowds had in common that the 2009-July 2015 crowds didn’t. Exactly.
YES! Ever since that garbage first started in 2006, I’ve complained about it with my friends every time it has come up. It drives me crazy. Apparently, bandwagon fans can’t keep the rhythm on a chant without a guttural grunt. I haven’t been able to figure out why. But, along with long lines for everything, more drunken rowdiness at the stadium, and the Mets treating longtime plan-holders like they’re easily replaceable, it’s one of the things I hate most about the Mets being good again.
waaaaaahhhhhh……
been going on for a long time buddy i go to many games. and its still a 3 beat chant one person does the who? not everyone. if yor a met fan and go to games. and sit everywhere you will hear it.
As much as I admire your posts and passions, you do not have the monopoly on the proper way to root for our team. I have been at the stadium sind 73 and a season ticket holder since 86. I started HOOO, in 06 when I was too hungover to yell LGM and it stuck, we’ve had it ever since, not sorry about hooooo and I am never going to do the wave.
PS; Stop crying and worrying about the bandwagoners, enjoy the ride and lets welcome the next generation of lifelong fans to METS BASEBALL- HOOOOOOOOO!
