This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty: The “Top 5 Songs That Best Describe Game 5 For The Mets : Edition

eddie

Yeah I’m bummed over last nights loss to the Dodgers, especially when you figure in that the Mets should have as well as would have won game 2 of the NLDS if the correct call of interference was made. But we can’t change the past but hopefully the Mets can control their future.

There are 2 things that I am known for ( ok Keith aside from my horrible tweeting skills) and that is the New York Mets and music – especially Heavy Metal. There is an aggressiveness that metal encompasses that in my opinion compliments the game of baseball. Many players use it as their walk up music such as Mike Piazza with “The Prisoner” by Iron Maiden or with Kirk Nieuenhuis  with “Walk” by Pantera.

Whether it’s the galloping riffs that get the blood and adrenaline pumping or the  epic “us against the world” lyrics that many can relate to it is easy to understand why many people use the music as a call to arms or even a rallying call.

So here are my top 5 songs that best describe game 5 of the NLDS for the Mets.

5. “Aces High” by Iron Maiden. Just like the title alludes to this matchup between deGrom and Grienke should be one for the ages.

4. “Blood Red Skies” by Judas Priest. “You can’t break me, you cant take me because I’ll fight you under blood red skies !”  Yup pretty much sums it up !

3. “Take No Prisoners” by Megadeth. Truer words have never been said !

2. ” Beat The Bastards Down” by Accept. Especially you Chase Utley !

And finally at number one is “Fight ‘Em  ‘Til You Can’t by New York sons, Anthrax.

So do you agree with this list ? What would you add/delete or do you have an entirely different list than mine? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section .

And with that said…. Here comes the infamy !!!!!

Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:

One of the more famous Mets from the ’69 World Champions, outfielder Art Shamsky  turns 74 (1941).

Spot starter/middle reliever from the ’72 season, Brent Strom is 77(1948).

Concussion prone outfielder from ’08-’09, Ryan Church is 37  (1978).

One of the best loogys the Mets ever had, Duaner Sanchez is 36 (1979).

Some transactions of note include:
The New York Mets purchased the contract of spot starter/middle reliever, Jack Hamilton from the Detroit Tigers on October 14, 1965.

The San Diego Padres drafted chose both starting pitcher, Dick Selma and minor league outfielder, Jerry Morales from the Mets  during the expansion draft on October 14, 1968.

You better watch out because Mo Vaughn is a WAR MACHINE !!!

  1. Scott Ian from Anthrax is a fan of the Evil Empire so that disqualifies them. I suggest any song by guitar wizard Michael Schenker formerly of UFO, Scorpions and MSG would do. Captain Nemo, Into the Arena are great examples. Just ask fellow Met fan, Eddie Trunk.
