A rare confluence of events yesterday – FREE TIME and sunshine.
So I pulled out Ronnie’s book, which the fine folks at St. Martin’s Press had provided me with a few months back.
During soccer season I’m rarely home to read. Into Father’s Day my family was trying to find something I might like and they sent me a text from the local book retailer asking if I would want this book. Good thinking! But I already owned it so I said no thanks….
Anyways, yesterday I had some time before the Mets game (and what a game that was) and got through the first 4 chapters.
I absolutely loved it. Ronnie totally brought me back to October 1986 and some memories I haven’t thought about in 30 years.
The book focuses on Game 7, whereas (as Ron points out) we tend to think about Game 6 a lot and not so much the other games.
Ronnie is as humble and as personable as you’ve gotten to know him on TV, or we got to know him at the Queens Baseball Convention.
I can’t give you a full review as I haven’t finished it, but I did want to share my enthusiasm for the start of the book. Pick it up and spend some time on the beach with it.
4 chapters, 4 stars. Now I just need another sunny day with free time…
