JOSE REYES TO RETURN TO BROOKLYN: THURSDAY – SATURDAY

BROOKLYN, NY – August 10, 2016 – Jose Reyes, four-time National League All-Star, will begin a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment with the Brooklyn Cyclones (A) of the New York-Penn League on Thursday, August 11th. The 33-year-old infielder is hitting .239 (16-67) with nine runs scored, four doubles, two triples, three home runs and eight RBI in 16 games with the Mets this season. Reyes has not played since July 26 due to a left oblique strain.

This will mark the third time that Jose has suited up for the Cyclones, including the second time this season. Once he rejoined the Mets organization, signing a minor league contract on June 25, the Mets all-time leader in triples played two games with Brooklyn on June 26th and 27th before moving on to Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League. Reyes also played with Brooklyn during a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment in 2011, the year he would win the National League’s Batting Crown.

Reyes is expected to play three games with the Cyclones, Thursday – Saturday. The Cyclones will take on the Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland Athletics) on Thursday before welcoming the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) to MCU Park on Friday and Saturday. Starting Wednesday at 3:00 PM and running through Thursday at 10 AM the Cyclones will waive all ticket / convenience fees associated with these three games.
