Baseball’s Big Blown Late Night

Good morning!

You’re awake enough to read a blog post right? Rise and shine cupcakes!

The Narrative today will be all about what a great night baseball had. Fox will have a ratings story. The media will fawn over itself. The Cubs are a great story.

But did you enjoy it or were you rooting for the game to just end?

I had theater plans last night and wasn’t loose until 10. I jumped in the car and played Where The Hell Is The Game on the radio. The answer was your 27th guess – 1130 AM

Got home, really awake for me and put the game on.

Junior was long asleep, and hadn’t mentioned the World Series to me once, so there is one 13 year old kid who isn’t becoming a fan aka consumer of your product.

Mrs. Mets Police, the Casual Fan type that everyone wants to add on, took an interest. We talked about what if Cleveland gets a home run here.

 They did! How exciting!

And then Casual Fan realizes it is 11:20. She bails.

I head to the couch and watch.

Then the game goes to extras.

Then we come back and there is a tarp out.

I close my eyes with the sound on, and eventually hear KB say the game will resume at 12:15 and I decide….

 I don’t care.

I woke up this morning to learn that the Cubs won. I have no memory of it. No connection to it.

No amount of highlight watching or listening to Mike and Mike fawn will get me to have a connection with what should be one of baseball’s best moments, and will be spun as one by The Narrative.

The sin? The 8pm start. Once again baseball sells out the biggest part of the population.

The result? I’m somewhere annoyed and indifferent.

I bet there are a lot of “me” out there today but they won’t be bothered to blog or fight you on twitter. And don’t forget it’s “me” that decides if we buy tickets or not.

Enjoy your moment baseball, I know I didn’t.
