David Wright to 60 Day DL and other Mets roster moves

FLUSHING, N.Y., April 20, 2017 – The New York Mets announced today that they have activated RHP Jeurys Familia from the Restricted List, recalled catcher Kevin Plawecki from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned RHP Rafael Montero and LHP Sean Gilmartin to Las Vegas. Plawecki will wear #26 and will be available for tonight’s game. In addition, to make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred infielder David Wright to the 60-Day Disabled List.

 

Familia, 27, pitched 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in two minor league outings. He had two saves­­ and didn’t allow a run in 3.1 innings in four games for the Dominican Republic during the 2017 WBC. He went 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (two earned runs/4.2 innings) in five spring training games. Familia led the majors with 51 saves last year, establishing a franchise record.

 

Plawecki, 26, was hitting .270 (10-37) with three doubles, one home run and seven RBI in 10 games with Las Vegas this year. He batted .197 (26-132) with one home run and 11 RBI in 48 games with New York in 2016
