Terry Collins is destroying the sport of baseball

Guys, your sports is unwatchable because of this man.

The sports is unwatchable.  It’s a slow enough game for the first six innings, but then Bullpen Hell starts.  NOBODY is tuning in to watch 5 no-names pitch to one batter.  These are not the stars of the game and it grinds the game to a halt.

Each pitching change comes with a trip to the mound, a commercial break, a guy doing warmup tosses and just complete inaction.  It’s awful television.

Terry is a primary offender of what is destroying this television product.  Games are sailing past three hours almost every night.   Six pitchers a night, and again, and I cannot say this loudly enough, THESE ARE NOT THE STARS OF THE SPORT.  It’s the most no-name of the no-names, and this is what baseball is putting on TV.

So my very realistic rule change proposals:

  1.  ALL substitute players must enter form the dugout.  If you want to warm up in a bullpen, thats nice.  But you will enter the game the same way a pinch hitter does.  Be ready
  2. No warm-up pitches.  None.  The pinch runner doesn’t get practice sprints.  Take your position and play it.
  3. The field manager cannot enter the field of play except in the case of injury or to discuss things like double switches.  No mound conferences.  No walking out to the mount to signal a pitching change.  Thanks to rule #1 the relief pitcher will be next to yo and you can just tell him.

That’s it.  I haven’t major changed the game (like limiting the number of substitutions or declaring someone must face x batters.  All I really did is make the pitcher enter the game from the dugout.  Simple.  Do it.  Today.
