Mets Police Morning Laziness: Mets survive torturous flight from Miami to New York

WTF Gary Cohen?  Two nights in a row he has made a big deal about how late the Mets would get in, and then how late the Mets got in.  It was a NIGHT GAME AFTER A NIGHT GAME.   It’s not like the Mets played until 2am on Thursday.  He mentioned it about five times last night.  Aren’t these charter flights?  Can’t you function on 7 hours sleep?  Buy some earplugs and sleep on the plane.

Lame “Me Too” blogs will write about the Bonilla contract today.  You guys know about  this, I will not be a Me Too blog.  Same news every year and will be for another two decades.  Zzzzzz

SLACKISH REACTION:  Thank goodness the no-hitter got broken up before Terry destroyed another pitcher so we could get t-shirts and a cool hashtag.  Jake was great, so hopefully the Mets are on the phones with the Astros and dealing him while his value is peak.  I am serious.

THE METS NEED TO LOSE TWO IN A ROW TO THE PHILLIES:   I know, I know, it pained me to write that, but I am thinking long-term here.  The idiots on twitter are going to start talking about how the Mets are on a run blah blah because they can beat the two worst teams in SF and Philly.   They need a reality check so we can deal these veterans (Curtis, love you, you should be gone today while your value is high and take Jay with you) and actually get something back.

The Mets are 5 games under and 9.5 back, and that’s after being hot for 10 days gang.

The Mets will honor Canada Day by wearing Stars & Stripes uniforms for FOUR DAYS as uniform nonsense gets  crazier and crazier.   Anyone know where the proceeds on this go?  No?  I didn’t think so.   Probably for Stars and Stripes Awareness.

Sandy destroyed Matt Harvey.

Is an All You Can Drink special part of baseball’s safety initiatives?  Speaking of which, an umpire in Miami was hit by a ball from the stands.  Extending netting now, to protect umpires.

The Mets allowed fans to attend the game last night without the extended netting.  Did they knowingly put fans in harms way or is there not actually a danger?   Seems reckless to have all those people sit there without protective netting, I hope they leave those seats empty today so fans can be safe.  If a foul ball hits you today in those seats your lawyer should have a very easy time winning $100 million.

Anyway, today is a 4pm start after a night game.  That was only an 18 hour window between games, 15 hours if you assume Gary has to be at the park 3 hours early.  I hope he was able to get 11 or 12 hours sleep in.
