Here in New York City we are very serious about September 11th. Way back when, the Mets took the field in first responder caps. Some wore FDNY, some NYPD and others wore other tributes.
It would mean a lot to the people of New York if you could take part in this tradition, doubly so because the Mets have an off day.
I know it’s a little mix-and-match if you wear something New York, but surely we can all put our heads together and find the right thing to wear. I am undereducated about Tampa that day, put perhaps you too have your local heroes or your stories to tell. Please share them with us.
I also won’t ask you to take on Joe Torre and do this in game, but if in pre-game you could find a way to honor our tradition it would mean a lot and you’d be forever respected around these parts.
